KUTIIING'S DIGITAL BOOKSHELF

DARK MATTER Novel
by Blake Crouch

I went into this thinking I’d just be reading a sci-fi book about dark matter… but I was hooked right away. It had me constantly wondering what would happen next.
SPOILER ‼️
I’ve come across multiverses and multiple realities in other books, articls, posts before, but reading Dark Matter made me realize how scary it would actually be… like, imagine having a beer with another version of yourself from a different universe.
The first few chapters honestly confused me since it didn’t immediately explain the whole multiple realities concept. It wasn’t until almost halfway through that I went, “oh… wait… that’s not Jason Jason.” 👀
One scene that stuck with me the most was when Jason and Amanda were opening doors to other realities and the reality they entered depended on their state of mind, both conscious and subconscious.
It made me think… it’s kind of true even in our reality.
The “door” to your future depends on what you believe, what you fear, and the choices you make because of them. The paths you take aren’t random; they’re shaped by how you see yourself and the world.
And that’s what made it even more unsettling.
Because what if the life you’re living right now is just one version… created by every small decision, doubt, and desire you’ve ever had? Di ba, scary?
It makes you question your reality. What if I had let it all go five years ago? Where would I be now? Somewhere out there, there’s another version of me who made that choice. Hahahaha. This book really changed how I see my life right now. I’m here because of the choices I’ve made. I may have regrets, but somewhere out there, another version of me is probably wondering what would’ve happened if she didn’t let go.
In the book, (okay this is SUPER spoiler. haha), Daniela, Jason's wife, met the other Jason that pretended to be her husband for a month, and even though that other Jason treated her differently, hmm better I think, she still choose to be back with her Jason that she built her life with. This is really sweet. And also their son, Charlie, even though, maybe the other Jason treated him better, he still chose his dad because Jason is his father, no other person could replace him. That moment, really made me cry. T_T
I’d definitely recommend this if you’re into fast-paced, mind-bending reads that make you question your life a little. Just be ready… it might mess with your head.
