This is the first book I read in 2026, and I honestly didn’t expect to start the year with this much adrenaline.
There was a buddy read session in our book club, and I joined for the first time, YEY! We chose this book because of the upcominh movie adaptation showing in our city on January 8, 2026 (yes… we were a little late, but let’s call it “building anticipation”). Still, reading it before watching the film made everything feel more exciting!
I really love the book! I couldn’t put it down. Every chapter pulled me deeper. I love the plot twist, the thrill build up, and how easy read it is.
I found myself thinking about it even when I wasn’t reading. It’s also my first thriller, which made the experience even more intense, and it's like I am watching a movie while reading it! My heart was racing, my mind was spiraling, and I loved every second of it. I love how Freida McFadden wrote it, she broke the POV into two parts, I was crazy telling that Nina did it, definitely Nina did it, on the first part! And then, I was too shocked, screaming shock (!) that OMG there's a Nina POV and it was in that POV where the real story is, how Nina planned every move, every delulu. It was amazing! And when she told the story about the plucking of 100 hair strands? Oh my, I can feel it in my scalp. haha.
Starting the year with this book felt amazing, I think I am loving thriller books already. Give me more! haha it's like I’m really back in my reading era, and this time, I’m staying.
